Old plan names changed
Manus says existing Basic and Plus plans were renamed to Pro. If you subscribed before the new pricing, your renewal may not match the public plan names exactly.
How Manus AI credits work
Credits pay for active task processing.
Manus says credits are its standard unit for usage. More complex or longer tasks require more credits. The official credit docs name three main drivers:
- LLM tokens: used for task planning, decision making, and generating output.
- Virtual machines: used for cloud environments that handle files, browser automation, and code execution.
- Third-party APIs: used when Manus accesses external services, such as financial data or professional databases.

Credits are consumed during active task processing. Manus says completed tasks, stored results, and deployed outputs do not keep consuming credits just because they exist.

Manus consumes credits in this order: event credits, daily credits, monthly credits, add-on credits, then free credits.
Do Manus credits roll over?
Monthly credits do not carry over.
No, not for normal monthly subscription credits. Manus says monthly credits need to be used within the subscription period. If your $20 Pro membership starts on January 1, the 4,000 monthly credits reset on February 1. Unused monthly credits are cleared.
Annual subscriptions work the same way month to month. You pay annually, but the credits still refresh monthly, and unused credits do not roll over at the end of each monthly cycle.
Add-on credits are different
Purchased add-on credits can carry over, but Manus says they require an active paid subscription. If your account moves back to Free or the subscription lapses, purchased credits may become inactive.
Can you estimate Manus credit usage?
The dashboard is the first place to check.
The old version of this article said Manus cannot show cost before you start. That is no longer a safe claim. Manus Documentation says the dashboard provides estimates before you start a task, and you can review similar past tasks to gauge credit requirements.
I would still treat the estimate as an estimate, not a guaranteed bill. Manus says actual credit consumption depends on task complexity and duration. Long research runs, browser work, file generation, and third-party data access can all change the final credit use.
How to spend fewer Manus credits
These tips come from Manus docs, not user rumors.
Use Chat Mode for quick questions. Manus says simple questions do not need the full autonomous agent. Chat Mode is the cheaper fit for quick lookups.
Be specific. Manus gives the same advice in its docs: a clear request reduces unnecessary iterations. "Research AI" is vague. "Research the top 5 AI trends in healthcare for 2024 and create a summary report" gives the agent a bounded task.
Batch related tasks. If you need several related outputs, Manus recommends combining related work into one request when possible. That can reduce overhead.
Review intermediate results. For complex tasks, check intermediate outputs before Manus continues. That can prevent the agent from spending credits on the wrong direction.
Who should pay for Manus AI?
The pricing only works if the task is worth delegating.
Use Free if you are testing fit. Free is enough to learn the interface and try Manus 1.6 Lite in Agent Mode. The 1 concurrent task limit matters, but it is fine for evaluation.
Use Pro if Manus replaces real work. The $20/month Pro tier makes sense if 4,000 monthly credits can cover tasks you would otherwise do manually: research, slide generation, website deployment, and structured report work.
Use the $40 Pro tier if you already know you will exhaust 4,000 credits. Do not start there just because it exists. Start lower, look at usage history, then upgrade if the dashboard shows a real need.
Use Team if administration matters. Team is not just more credits. The official Help Center points to SSO, data training opt-out, analytics, access control, and shared slide templates. Those matter for companies more than solo users.

The verdict
Manus pricing is manageable if you watch credits.
The important change is simple: Manus pricing is now a Free, Pro, and Team story. The old Standard, Customizable, and Extended framing is stale. So are claims about an "Elite unlimited" plan.
The risk is still credits. Manus is not a flat unlimited assistant. It is a credit-based agent product where longer and more complex work costs more. If you use it like ChatGPT, you will probably be disappointed. If you use it for bounded agent tasks and check the dashboard before you run bigger jobs, the $20 Pro tier is the sensible starting point.
